Türkiye and Lebanon signed an agreement regarding cultural issues in 1959, and on the occasion of the visit of Fouad Siniora, the then-Prime Minister, to Türkiye in 2006, signed the Education Cooperation Program.

In addition, more than 10 instructors, appointed by the Turkish Ministry of National Education, offer Turkish classes in various locations in Lebanon, such as Beirut, Saida, Tripoli, Akkar, and Beqaa.

The Beirut center of Yunus Emre Institute(YEE)that started its operations in March 2012, contributed significantly to the cultural aspect of the Turkish-Lebanese relations.

The Beirut center of YEE set the stage for more than 10 thousand people across Lebanon to get acquainted with the Turkish language and culture, and currently offers in-class, as well as, online Turkish lessons.

Apart from Turkish language courses, Beirut YEE continues to introduce to our Lebanese brethren Turkish culture and art by means of organizing various activities, such as concerts, film weeks, and traditional handicraft and cuisine workshops.

YEE and the Lebanese University signed in July 2016 a protocol to establish at the said university a Department of Turkology, which was inaugurated in 2017 and had its first graduates in December 2020.

Moreover, some other schools and universities in Lebanon also offer elective Turkish-language courses.
