The Military Framework Agreement signed in 2010 forms the legal basis for the bilateral military relations between Türkiye and Lebanon. Since then, the Armed Forces of the two countries signed more legal documents regarding technical issues, grants, and training cooperation, which strived to cover all service branches.

In the aftermath of the Beirut Port explosion that took place in August 2020, the Turkish Armed Forcesdonated food and sanitary and health supplies to the Lebanese Armed Forces.

President General Joseph Aoun, when serving as the LAF Commander, paid an official visit to Türkiye between the dates of September 24 and 25, 2021, upon the invitation of General Yaşar Güler, the then-Chief of General Staff of the TAF, and on that occasion, met with General Güler, and was also received by General Hulusi Akar, the then-Minister of National Defense of Türkiye.

Turkish military authorities donated in May 2025 to the LAF military aid consisting of technical equipment, medicine, and medical supplies. Furthermore, the TAF is anticipating to equip the “Model Regiment,” which is stipulated to be established soon in the South.

We are determined to support the safety of our Lebanese brethren and the security of the Lebanese Republic by means of continuing to provide the LAF in the coming period with any and all assistance needed.

Türkiye further contributes to Lebanon’s security by deploying a combat ship of corvette/frigate class for service at the Naval Task Force of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, in addition to the 5 officers stationed at the UNIFIL Headquarters in Naqoura. The Turkish Grand National Assemblyextended in October 2024 the mandate of our aforementioned contributions to UNIFIL for another year.

High-level diplomatic, military and intelligence officials from Türkiye and Lebanon, as well as from Jordan, Iraq and Syria, having convening in Amman in March 2025, agreed to establish a joint operation center for the purpose of supporting the current international efforts to destroy DEASH and of cooperating in eliminating the threat posed to the entire region by the said terrorist organization.
