A Cultural Agreement was signed between Türkiye and Lebanon on 23 June 1959. The Education Cooperation Program was signed during the visit of the then Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora to Türkiye in 2006.

Turkish language lessons are given in Beirut, Saida, Tripoli, Akkar and Beqaa regions by 13 teachers assigned to our embassy by the Turkish Ministry of National Education.

Beirut Yunus Emre Institue (YEE), which was opened on March 22, 2012, has filled an important gap in the cultural dimension of relations between Türkiye and Lebanon. The center, which has allowed 10 thousand people across Lebanon to meet with the Turkish language and culture, currently offers online Turkish lessons to 6500 students due to Covid-19 related restrictions.

Apart from Turkish language courses, Beirut YEE organizes concerts, film weeks, traditional handicraft courses and continues to bring Turkish culture and art together with the Lebanese people on various occassions

A protocol was signed between Yunus Emre Institute and Lebanese University to open a Turkology department at the university on July 11, 2016. With this protocol,the Department of Turkology, which was opened in 2017, had its first graduates in December 2020.

Elective Turkish courses are also offered in some other universities and schools in Lebanon.
